So I have been very busy and due to this fact I have not been shooting nearly as much as I would like. I get home and I think of doing it only to find that the effort and the fact I am still not good becomes overwhelming. This fact leads to anything on tv being hypnotic. So I decided that even though I am late with the week’s assignment I am going to post anyway. The picture is of the one place in my house where I could find food after putting off shopping for a whole month.

This week’s theme was water. Given the fact that earth is covered with water over 2/3 of its surface this is the easiest assignement ever…unless you live in the freaking desert. Seriously, this one really baffled me. I managed to get an interesting reflective image off of a bird bath. Not my best but hey I got in in on time. Alternatively, I have added some storm clouds rolling in that could be artistically interpreted as water.

So this week’s assignment was cause and effect. I remember spending countless frusterating hours on setting up dominos. As a kid I would want to set up the huge elaborate images then watch them all fall down. Unfortunately, I have the attention span of a..oh look a bird.

In my world even as a kid there was no clearer example of cause and effect than that of setting up dominos and knocking them down.

Still playing with the macro lens which is always fun. This week’s assignment was around the house. I tried my first idea which was about as exciting as watching paint dry. Amazingly enough I bailed on that one and went outside. There I found a multitude of cool things to shoot all of which being blown around in the seemingly gale forced wind. So in an attempt to preserve the environment I ripped the branch off the tree and took pictures on a table.

For perspective the branch looking things are actually little pine needles. Gotta love macro.

What did I learn:

Wind is REALLY hard to do macro in
At 1:1 you can see every single spot of dust on the lens

I was actually kinda late with this one. I had some ideas but lacked the time, and probably the skill, to pull them off. However, some friends and I went to Nelson where i was able to pick one. Not my finest work but tried to make it solitary enough. This shack was abandoned but in better shape than most of the abandoned ones around there.
