Apple in the Rain – Day 188 of 365

Today’s shot was somewhat accidental. I woke up early on a Sunday because my body hates me. My cat decided once again that the dog food is what he wanted to eat so I got the squirt bottle, no it doesn’t teach him but it makes me feel better. In spraying it I noticed it doing fun things in the sun beams coming through the window. I was actually trying to get a fun picture of the water in the mist but instead i got blur (really good at that). So I held an apple in front of the camera and landed this.

Easily one of the coolest things about PhotoShop 5 is the ability to content aware fill. There was a sticker right on the front of the apple which was filled with water droplets included.

So had some fun with 2 water bottles. Learned an interesting fact, goof off is really good for taking off label glue. I haven’t played with water tornados since grade school and amazingly enough it is still a blast.

Photo A Day 183: First day of the second half

So, I always enjoy blogging but I don’t generally have much to say. About 6 months ago I started taking 1 photo each day. The goal is to make it for a full year and I have made it thus far. Good Days, bad days, and everything in between have been recorded. I figured that this is about as interesting as I am going to get with my blog. So I am going to try to post up every picture here with a little explanation to have some context one day. Here is today’s:

This week’s theme is drops of water. I managed to get some decent sunrise pictures but they were formulaic. Instead, I sprayed down a plant and took a nice macro shot on a tripod to get really clear droplets. Worked out surprisingly well.

Its day 181 in the photo a day challenge. Done every single day and it is getting really, really hard. Saw this one while taking out the garbage. Kind of fun seeing a source of water getting soaked by another source.

Smoking Up Close

I had a couple of really long days this week so my ability to do alot of pictures went down. As a last ditch effort I took my camera to a friend’s birthday party. They do a good deal of smoking while drinking so several artistic pictures surfaced from that.

Buddy allowed me to take some pictures of his slow smoking suicide. The one below is another interesting one.

Day 5 – A Cat’s Prayer

I had to come up with another photo today. Luckily, my cats lay around about 18 hours a day so they are a rich resource for interesting pictures even if I am not an interesting photographer. My fat one was laying on the back of the couch so I pulled out my 70-200mm lens and started shooting from far away. This process allows the cat to act natural and more importantly not run away. She hates humans. I got this one that had a perfectly clear eye which I loved.

Ok so trying a photo a day for the whole year. Amazingly enough I am still going on day 2 of 365. This morning the moon was perfectly clear so I took a couple shots and ended up with the moon and a plane.

Birds In Alaska

I went on a cruise of Alaska and I saw a ton of cool stuff. Despite all of the variety of sights some of my best pictures were of birds. Even birds you could see on any beach.

These birds were amazingly brazen and very greedy. One came down and grabbed a whole slice of pizza. Then the other attacked the first. It was animal planet on a dirty table.

This shot was by accident but I loved the contrast. The next shot is of a seagull as well but it has a very interesting angle I enjoyed.

California Beach

Some old friends and I went to go see the Tonight Show. Then next day we headed down to the beach and got some great pictures and great sunburns.

Along the way we found a cave that lead to a small area obviously covered during high tide. My ham of a friend was more than willing to pose for the pictures.

A friend of mine who is on the photographic journey as well wanted to get a head shot for his myriad of social media projects. I like this one just due to the green in the background (which in the desert is not always easy to find).
